Recruiting, training and maintaining a highly-skilled workforce continues to be a top priority among Richardson area companies.
Richland College provides high quality, customized training without cost to you, the employer. In fact, Richland can offer companies state grant-funded training for new and existing employees through the Skills Development Fund (SDF), a program of the Texas Workforce Commission. SDF enhances your employee training program and stretches your departmental budget. Several Richardson companies have partnered with Richland in skills enhancement in the last few years: For example:
- RealPage received $1.3 million worth of grant-funded training to enhance the skills sets of 700 highly-educated software developers
- ARGO Data Resource Corp., another software company, benefited from $523,000 of cost-free training for 187 of its employees
- Smaller companies like The Wilkins Group and GXA Network Solutions were able to participate in the ARGO grant as well
- Associa, a nationwide homeowner management company, provided $707,000 of grant training to enhance the skills sets of 549 employees in their accounting and IT departments
The Skills Development Fund is Texas' premier job-training program providing training opportunities for Texas businesses and workers. Funding for the program is administered by the Texas Workforce Commission. Success is achieved through collaboration among businesses, public community and technical colleges, Workforce Development Boards and economic development partners.
The Skills Development Fund program assists businesses and trade unions by financing the design and implementation of customized job-training projects. This fund successfully merges business needs and local customized training opportunities into a winning formula to increase the skills levels and wages of the Texas workforce.
