The Richardson Fire Department was presented Aug. 5 with the American Heart Association’s Mission Lifeline Gold Plus award. This is the third year the department has received the award, which recognizes the high level of cardiac care delivered to patients by emergency medical services. Richardson paramedics are trained and equipped with the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment equipment, medical protocols and education to care for cardiac patients, according to the city. The department has in recent years been successful in decreasing the amount of time it takes to get cardiac patients to the hospital, Chief Curtis Poovey said. (via city of Richardson)
