At the September Women in Leadership event, a panel spoke to women from millennial to pre-retirement, including legal and financial experts, to find out how you can be prepared for your future.
Examples include Kathy Tran who runs a business at 25 years, Amanda who had cancer by 25, and Kristen whose husband in the military.
On the healthcare side, think of HIPPA authorization, medical power of attorney (get 3-4 people), DNR, advanced directive.
If you have children—college age=medical release, how to pay for college. Younger=training them the difference between credit, savings and cash
Retirement: only 35% of people have a retirement plan in place. Think through insurance, Roth IRA, review your beneficiaries.
Preparing for emergencies: Share information with families. Keep a purple folder where they know where to find it. Includes important passwords.
A panel moderated by Mary Bedosky, vice-president, Banking Center Manager, LegacyTexas - Richardson, with:
Elizabeth Zaby, attorney and counselor, Zaby & Associates
